Hey there!
Let's get started with your DO YOUR OWN Beach clean-up checklist!
Every single piece of litter matters to the wildlife and to us! It is a simple way for everyone to get involved in helping conserve our natural resources and take care of our habitat! There are several ways to help, which is sprinkled all over our website, but here we will be talking about getting out and cleaning up the environment anytime, anywhere!

Extra tips and tricks to make it the best clean-up!
Before you go:
-
Check the tides and for any potential inclement weather.

-
Bring an extra bag for any treasures you may find. Sea beans are a special treat to find when doing a clean-up. Many beachcombers say it is a way for Mother Nature to say thank you!

-
Put down important phone numbers in your phone: Local wildlife rescue place, Local fish and wildlife law enforcement agency, and the local department of health and local non emergency police department in your area.

While you are there:
-
Don’t go alone in unfamiliar areas!
-
Stay hydrated!
-
Be mindful of wildlife and protected areas!
-
Wear proper footwear and check tides!

Potential reporting:
-
Report any sharps or medical waste to the local Department of Health or non emergency policy line.
-
Report any wildlife sightings to your local fish and wildlife agency (or local non profit etc.)
-
Report any injured wildlife to your local wildlife rescue organization.
-
Report any large scale marine litter (furniture, construction materials etc) to your local Natural Resources Management departments.

After you are finished:
-
Post about your findings to social media, a blog, or wherever and use the hashtags #missioncleanbeaches #dyocleanup.
